Seems to be a quality product
I recently received my Temple Fork Outfitters 9 foot 5 weight fly rod. This seems to be a quality fly rod. Since it is winter I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it looks well made. I am impressed with the rod and reel carry case. This seems well thought out, light weight and very sturdy. Im looking forward to trout fishing in the spring.

Great rod. Ready to go right out of the box.
I really enjoyed this rod. I’m by no means an experienced fly fisherman. I actually just got into this pastime but it worked very well for my needs. Easy to setup and get on the water. I caught a few trout. I really really like that it’s salt and freshwater compatible. I really have no complaints

Nice light, simple, well made!
My wife and I ordered two of the same outfit: 8wt 9' 4pc with III reel and case. We ordered on June 20, they arrived today on July 10 - no communication as to the delay. But its the best price on the internet, so we were okay waiting. The two items came in the same box, each in a closed (not sealed) plastic bag. The only information that came with it are what's on the outside packaging, and the warranty card that was inside the cases. No manual, so no idea what the weights are of the backing, line or leader. Finish is black, not quite matte, but not glossy either - very nice IMHO. Reel was well mounted on the rod right out of the case, so it came ready to have a fly tied on and go.The case is really nice; very durable material on the outside, with a plastic reinforced tube lined with nylon dividers for each of the pole sections. Reel area is fleece lined, which is very nice. Outside has a carrying strap and a couple of attachment points to connect to your vest if that's how you roll.Very smooth reel, nice action, lightweight - hope to get it on the river this week. I did take the factory line off and strung them with straight mono as we're going to be using these mostly to floss salmon.

Perfect Entry Level Combo (that you wont have to replace when your an expert!)First off with rods and reels nothing is worst than a cheap! So if your budget its tight, this is the best buy for you. Save up and just spend the 200 dollars. I fly fish Colorado once a week through out the spring, summer and fall for the last 4 years and have been fly fishing for many years before that and honestly there are only two types of rods you should ever buy. First type would be when you have at less a $1,000 budget and you spend north of $700 just on your rod alone. Second type would be this Combo set right her.Temple Fork Outfitters deliver the best rod and reel combo with the NXT Black Label Kit that you can get for the price. You will not be disappointed and you wont need to buy another rod and reel for along time. I am starting to teach my brother-in-law how to fly fish and I just purchased this combo for him. I myself bought a similar Temple Fork Combo set about 5 years ago and I still am catching fish on it!If this is the top end of your budget, Stop shopping and just buy this combo, Trust me.P.s: If you break your rod they replace it for only 35 bucks! I have done that twice now!P.P.s: It looks cool too.

Great intro set up
October I decided I would try fly fishing. Came across TFO and after reading reviews decided this was the best bang for your buck. Cast smooth and accurate and over the last few weeks I have caught some cut bows and rainbows. A few fighting for 10+min and the rod and reel performing flawlessly. Would recommend to any new angler.

Bought for Wife for Anniversary
Kept a promise and bought this as we saw them in Montana on a float fishing trip. Haven’t used them yet, but plan to in retirement. Can’t wait to see how they work! Great packaging and everything included. 4 piece breakdown so it looks like it will go in overhead compartment for trips.

Still a great rod but packaging has changed
I own a 6wt and and 8wt and they are great. Bought a 4wt to round out my fly rods. The first two came with the TFO hard tubes the current one just in the cloth bag. Amazon then just put that in a box. It arrived ok but disapointed to no longer get a hard tube for a $180 rod.
