Excellent French Workbook
Love the mix of activities in this Grammar book. I like this author's workbooks better than others. She has you write in complete sentences sometimes which is helpful.Topics cover verbs, verb tenses, pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, some vocabulary, numbers etc. There are 260 pages of exercises, plus two glossaries and an answer key totalling 304 pages. So, you get a lot of exercises and material for the money. This is a great review book. It starts out with more simple concepts (present tense of verbs) and works up to the more difficult topics. So, you can fill in the holes in your knowledge. It has a clear and pleasing format and organization. It's fun to use. I use it to supplement the French classes I take during the year. The author is a French native and teaches French at NYU's continuing education program, so she knows what works in the classroom.

Errors within first 5 lessons!
My first undergrad was in French. I have spent much time in both France and Canada. This book does give good but short explanations of some technical issues, however, within the first 5 lessons I found errors.I wanted to be 100% positive so I confirmed my findings with a native French speaker who reaffirmed these were indeed errors. The book concentrates on verb conjugations but does not give a complete explanation of how or when so if you are a student or someone like me just wanting a good complete review reference book to keep in their home library this isn't the right one for you. Just because someone is a native speaker does not mean they can effectively teach the language. Sorry, the simple errors early on turned me against this book quickly. My advice is to learn what basics you can from it then toss it.

Excellent review
I didn't study French for a decade. I had just about forgotten it. This book brought it back. It's easily the best review book I've ever seen, and I've been studying French on and off for about 20 years. It cuts out all the nonsense and gets right to the point. I don't know that I'd use it alone as a new learner, but it's a wonderful companion book and an excellent review book.

Perfect resource for self-teaching
I ordered this along with many other French grammar books I'm scouting out for this and next semester, and this one is an absolute winner. Clear, concise grammatical explanations with relevant and level-appropriate exercises whose vocabulary matches the students' expected language skills. It manages to fit all the things you want for a French 2 or 3 course, for under fifteen bucks! Perfect resource for self-teaching, or for a course where you want to review grammar alongside authentic cultural materials. As those materials change from semester to semester, this resource will remain useful, relevant, cheap (and let's hope: in print).

"Practice makes perfect" says it all
I've been using this book for studying on my own and found it easy to follow. The audio answer key is a great idea but the normal rate of spoken French is still difficult for me to understand. I keep plodding on and completing the written exercises so the book is good enough to keep me from abandoning hope of learning French. I recommend listening to French audiobooks, too.

Buy the paper book, not the kindle ebook
2 stars for FORMATTING only. Like all Kindle books, the formatting is very different from the physical paper book. I don't own a kindle, I downloaded this to read on my laptop and iPads. This is a workbook. I suggest you buy the paper version, write in it, and recycle it when you are done.5/5 stars for the content; I bought the paper book soon after this (from my local language store) and found it to be an invaluable exercise book for even a beginner grammar learner. I am several chapters in; I am going slow, memorising the vocabulary and rules as I go through. In combination with other tools such as Duolingo, a face-to-face French teacher once per week and a picture dictionary, I am well on the way to fluency.

French Complete Grammar
Practice Makes Perfect Complete French Grammar (Practice Makes Perfect Series) This is a great book for grammar review. Lots of exercises and an answer key in the back. This is definitely not a book for a beginner. You should know at least the basics of the language although you don't have to be at the intermediate level.

Grammar is nothing to be feared of
Really good grammar book to use which doesn't over complicate things, I love practising with these books, teaches me how to use grammar properly and use verb conjugations and understand what the different tenses are used for. This book doesn't bore you to death with just passages of text. It gets straight to the point so you feel like you are really progressing. These books are so good that I purchased them for French, Spanish and Italian as I am studying these languages at a language school and they have been very helpful. I want to be as proficient as I can in the languages that I am learning! I recommend for people who are afraid of grammar when learning languages, this will show you that grammar is nothing to be feared of!

Well worth buying, but the word "complete" is a ...
Well worth buying, but the word "complete" is a bit misleading. On page 57 in the "passé composé" conjugated with "avoir" section, there is a brief explanation of the rule of past participles agreeing with the preceding direct object but no exercises are provided for that important grammatical area. I hope that a new edition will fill in this gap.

Very good book and great value
Ordered on Thursday, arrived Saturday (this afternoon)with free delivery! I've just completed the first chapter "Er verbs".I am using this book in conjunction with using Duolingo and enrolling on an evening course. I wouldn't recommend it for true beginners though. I'd say you need to be at Elementary level at least, as some of the examples in the explanations use multi-verb constructions in the first chapter, though it is all backed up with explanations in English, which is great.I agree with some other reviews that it is easy to read/understand and the exercises are good for reinforcement of the grammar points but yes, it could do with a few more, mainly to give the reader chance to practise and check the answers to ALL the different uses it explains. For instance, it shows 4 different eplanations of the constructions which can be used to say "since" in French but it only gives the answers to the following exercises using 2 of these. So, if you've used the other 2 constructions (like I did) then you can't be sure whether or not you got them right. However, it is definitely the best book I have tried so far and I highly recommend it.

Practice definitely makes perfect
This is one of the best books for learning or reviewing French grammar. I bought this to use alongside course materials that I'm using to gain a qualification in French.I wold recommend this to anybody who is doing any kind of course in French. It is the second Practice Makes Perfect book that I have bought, the other one is the Spanish grammar book and they are possibly the best books in my opinion.

Great for beginners
The book was very beneficial to a beginners course I am completing. It helped show the different grammar involved for each tense as well as providing a lot more vocabulary for certain verbs I was unsure of. Thanks to this book I have an increased range of french vocab and am more reassured when completing emails, speaking and reading in french.
