Recommended as a reading device. Compact, nice screen, lightweight, good battery life.
Moving up from reading on my cell phone Kindle app I decided to go with this device, since it is the smallest and lightest. I don't have any desire to move to the larger Kindles since this one is light, compact and portable. It fits in some pockets. Non-reading functions are not so good: slow processor, clunky and sluggish navigation through menus and library. Battery performance is adequate -- device needs charging every few days. Page turning is fast, but sometimes if you don't pay attention and double tap you can jump ahead and without frequent bookmarks you can lose your place. The screen is much easier on the eyes than my cell phone. It is black and white, with no "blue-light reduction," but it is easy to adjust the brightness for different locations. It takes a little while to learn how to navigate the menu items. Conclusion: as a reading device it is 5 stars, though for browsing for new book selections you are better off using the quick cell phone app or the Amazon site on a PC.. Non-reading functions are 2 stars. But you buy it to read, so I Recommend It with a 5-star rating. Some users might prefer the larger models, but if you want a compact one, this is the one.

Excellent, lightweight upgrade to kindle!
I have the earliest kindle fire, and it still works, but it’s losing its ability to hold a charge. I haven’t even considered replacing it, because I only use it when traveling, but I broke my arm two weeks ago, and find that the kindle is much easier to manage than the stack of hardcover books on my desk (I have arthritis in my wrists, anyway).I use a triangular pillow to hold books or my kindle, because both are too heavy for long reads. So, I landed on the basic kindle because I am most concerned with weight. I didn’t buy the cover, either, because weight. This little effer is lighter than my iPhone 16 pro! It’s really easy to read in daylight or at night, and I can hold it in my good hand without fatigue. Daytime glare is virtually nonexistent. I bought a little silicone handle for the back of it, but a pop-socket would work.I love it. Its compact size fits in my smallest, flattest crossbody, and it adds no weight. I feel like I can read anywhere again. I am hopeful that it is the thing I needed to get back to reading more.

A Fantastic Portable Option Even for Sunny Day
I am with Amazon since around 2000, and I started with Kindle keyboard. I switched to Fire for multitasking and better screen. I am still actively using HD6 for size and portability, but glare was always a problem. So I decided to give a try to this smallish 6 inch kindle with slim cover, and it is fantastic.I am a reader, and I read few hours a day every day. I can use my phone for web and email, and occasional youtube. For long reading time both outdoors and indoors, at home and traveling, this simple kindle model is terrific. It is bright enough, has enough fonts and other settings, no glare, and reasonably long time on a single charge. A screen is responsive enough. WiFi is working well, books are downloading fast enough.A full price is all right with free three months of unlimited, and I'll be waiting for a sale to get a backup. I am addicted to reading, you see, so I got to have a backup for a peace of mind. This 6 inch reader even in a cover is slimmer than fire HD6 and fits into any normal pocket. Very portable. For readers like me who don't need any experimentation with features and settings, it is a truly fantastic option. No bells and whistles, just reading. I am extremely pleased.

Loving My New Kindle!
Great purchase! This Kindle is light and really comfortable to hold. The colors are super cute, and it’s very easy to read. There are several options for your comfort, like adjusting letter size, brightness, dictionaries, and even a translator. So far, so good!

So cute and functional!
A Matcha-Made-in-Heaven KindleI’m in love with my new Kindle Basic in matcha green—it’s compact, cute, and crazy convenient. I received a Kindle Colorsoft as a gift from my husband earlier this year (which I do love), and originally thought I’d make my Oasis my go-to for travel. But truthfully, it was just too big and awkward to toss into my sling bag or carry comfortably on the go.Enter my sweet little Kindle Basic—what I now fondly call my baby azz Kindle. It’s light as a feather, zips into any bag without fuss, and gets the job done without the bulk. I did have a brief moment of seller’s remorse for my Oasis, but that vanished the second I started using the new Matcha out and about. The only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars? I really wish it had the warm light feature—my eyes definitely miss that cozy glow during nighttime reading. But even so, this Kindle is basically perfect for everything else. If you’re on the fence, just get it. Your shoulder, your bag, and your inner minimalist will thank you. Bonus points for looking adorable in matcha green and pairing perfectly with a pink case. She’s a whole vibe.

Get it
Uhm hello. It’s an ebook and it’s matcha colored. It’s so compact it fits in my hand so good and comfortable. I can hold it with one hand to read a book. It took me a month of on and off book reading before I finally needed to charge it at 13%. It charges super fast and I just love it. The screen quality is so crispy and clean it makes me want to read even more. It turns so easily that I have to be careful sometimes because I barely touch the screen and it changes pages.

Simple, Stylish, and Perfect for Everyday Reading
I’m absolutely loving my green Kindle Basic! The color is a beautiful, earthy green that stands out just enough without being flashy. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and super comfortable to hold for long reading sessions. The screen is crisp and glare-free, even in bright sunlight, and the adjustable front light makes it perfect for reading at night. It’s a no-fuss device that focuses purely on reading—no distractions, just books.Battery life is amazing, and the interface is super easy to use. If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable e-reader with a sleek design, this one’s a winner. The green is such a refreshing change from the usual black or white. Highly recommend!
