Q: does anyone wear under a leg brace?

Yes, I do. My brace is a hard plastic and would rub against my leg, with the sock it's not against my skin. The sock is thin enough, is not hot during the summer, but also warm enough in the winter.

Q: would the go around a 22 ince leg

I think they will dig in too much and be uncomfortable if you could get them on. I doubt you would get them on though (especially after laundering) and I think I'd pass on them. Right above my knee where they come up after laundering is about 16-1/2 inches and below my knee where I wear them is 14 inches. I wouldn't want them any tighter. Maybe they'll offer a larger size for next fall and winter season.
