Yes, you can draw parallel straight lines and the kit is small enough to store easily in the box that it comes with. Larger format drawings may require a larger board for designing… so check the size of your project. A great starter kit…I got an A in the class!

The T-square has a lock on each end but mine is missing the foot on the right-side dog so it doesn’t lock that end into place. It’s flimsy to start with but this makes it much worse. Still it’s better than nothing.

I'm going to use this board to draw the plan of our new apartment at a much more useful scale. We need to know what will fit and what won't. This board is going to let me do that. The brief descriptions included on the package left me clueless about how to assemble everything. Please do what I did. Went back to the original description of the table. You will find an assembly video which will help you a LOT. Won't make you an expert, but it WILL get you started.

The 5 stars I gave are based entirely on value for the money. The quality deserves a 1 or 2 stars. The board is very flemsey and the T-square does not slide or lock evenly. The adjustable 45 degree triangle is far from accurate. If you are looking for a board to do serious/accurate drawings, my suggestion is to buy a better quality board and buy the triangle tools etc. separately. WHY the 5 stars? As I said, Value for the money. You can't beat the price. As they say, "You get what you pay for".

It specifically mentions in the description "inch scale system", but this is metric. It's basically useless for drawing blueprints which is why I bought it. The construction is cheap; the paper clamps do not work as described and I about bring it trying to figure out its function. Really disappointed in this purchase. I'll give at a single star for being cost effective. The reminds me, it requires A3 drawing paper. Good luck finding that locally.

It’s too bad that this mechanical drawing set was not satisfactory. It had a couple more pieces than the more expensive set, but the main ruler didn’t stay put, so I couldn’t really trust it to draw a straight line. Other reviewers said the same thing. I had to pay twice as much to get the set that satisfied my needs, but it was well worth it.

I was skeptical when I bought it but use it every day now it is hard to find paper other then drafting velum to fit it perfectly but with some neodymium magnets as pictured on the front and back any paper will fit and it works good for freehand and mechanical drawings
