Best value and performance
I bought this ring for my canon 70-200mm F4. The rings performs very well. It fits tight and secure. It is the best alternative to the original ring considering the price. The material is very sturdy and the color is basically identical to the lens. Unlike other reviews, this ring does not have any play and feel very secure. I use the ring to support the lens and my Xsi camera. I have done 3-5 minutes exposures, and I did not notice any movement or flexing of the camera at all.

Surprise Value
I was skeptical regarding tripod collar given the large difference between what I paid for the item and what Canon was asking for theirs. So I was then pleasantly surprised when the item arrived. The color was a great match. The collar firmly held the lens. It was indeed metal construction. My only complaint was the finish. It has small bubbles or dabs of extra paint that impair the overall quality of the item. The flaws are not so extreme such that the flaws are readily apparent. No one would likely notice the finish flaws when mounted on a camera and tripod. Yet even with the poor quality finish, I would buy this item again, particularly given the low price. The Canon price is just too hard to justify.

Solid Product
The ring attaches easily and has a firm grip and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Worthwhile product was sent quickly and well packaged.

Great, but with issues...
I use this on my Canon 70-200 f4L (non-IS, OG version) and it works great! Why 3 stars? Well, build quality is not as good as discribed and, even a bigger deal for me, since I'm all about perfection..., the color is WAY off. It isn't even close to the right color of the lens. Only buy this if the lens you're using this for it light, not heavy. If you have the same lens I do, than you should be fine :). Good product and you get what you paid for, but build quality is still a little low, even at this price. I just bought a belt for Macy's that cost less with a way better build quality than this thing.

Haven’t had a chance to actually use this yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna enjoy it

NOT METAL!
I looked high and low to find a canon tripod ring replacement for my 70-200mm f/4. I hated spending a hundred bucks or more for a canon, and it was suggested to me that I buy a third party. I liked the idea. I found this and the description states it is metal, as well as several of the reviews. Upon receiving it I have found out that it is not metal, nor is it anywhere close to a quality product. The only good this is that it has an almost exact paint match to the canon white. The tripod socket is too shallow, barely letting my Manfrotto QR plate fully tighten; the plastic construction is wobbly (makes for a great solid mount huh?), the interior lining marred my lens after ONE turn while on a tripod, and the latch screw is difficult to operate.I will be trying the opteka, and hoping that it is higher quality, if not I will give up on third party tripod rings.Buyer beware! You get less than you pay for here...

There is a reason one is $10 & the other $140
This collar will hold the lens on a tripod head and allow you to carry it around attached. It did this fine for a few hours over a couple of city walks. Perhaps it would eventually let me down, but I will never know as this collar has been removed from the lens. I own the 70-200 2.8 I which has a metal collar. This Rainbowimagine collar is plastic and feels cheap. The screw knob feels as if it is going to snap off each time it is tightened or untightened. Not that big of a deal since it hasn't at this point. My biggest complaint and the reason I have now purchased the OEM Canon collar is due to the vibration that causes blurry pics. I use mirror lockup with a 2 second delay which has yielded some shake / blurry images. Also, when bracketing shots the images are never aligned. The 2.8 collar is solid and has never had the blur issue when bracketing or using the 2 second delay.I do not recommend this collar for landscape photography.
