Best value and performance
I bought this ring for my canon 70-200mm F4. The rings performs very well. It fits tight and secure. It is the best alternative to the original ring considering the price. The material is very sturdy and the color is basically identical to the lens. Unlike other reviews, this ring does not have any play and feel very secure. I use the ring to support the lens and my Xsi camera. I have done 3-5 minutes exposures, and I did not notice any movement or flexing of the camera at all.

Solid Product
The ring attaches easily and has a firm grip and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Worthwhile product was sent quickly and well packaged.

Surprise Value
I was skeptical regarding tripod collar given the large difference between what I paid for the item and what Canon was asking for theirs. So I was then pleasantly surprised when the item arrived. The color was a great match. The collar firmly held the lens. It was indeed metal construction. My only complaint was the finish. It has small bubbles or dabs of extra paint that impair the overall quality of the item. The flaws are not so extreme such that the flaws are readily apparent. No one would likely notice the finish flaws when mounted on a camera and tripod. Yet even with the poor quality finish, I would buy this item again, particularly given the low price. The Canon price is just too hard to justify.

Great, but with issues...
I use this on my Canon 70-200 f4L (non-IS, OG version) and it works great! Why 3 stars? Well, build quality is not as good as discribed and, even a bigger deal for me, since I'm all about perfection..., the color is WAY off. It isn't even close to the right color of the lens. Only buy this if the lens you're using this for it light, not heavy. If you have the same lens I do, than you should be fine :). Good product and you get what you paid for, but build quality is still a little low, even at this price. I just bought a belt for Macy's that cost less with a way better build quality than this thing.

Haven’t had a chance to actually use this yet, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna enjoy it

Canon 70-200 F4 Tripod Collar Works Great!
Fits and works perfectly. I use it with my monopod for sports photography. It is made out of heavy plastic which does squeak when the mount is tightened on the camera barrel. Seems durable and there has been no slippage. Nice price.

NOT METAL!
I looked high and low to find a canon tripod ring replacement for my 70-200mm f/4. I hated spending a hundred bucks or more for a canon, and it was suggested to me that I buy a third party. I liked the idea. I found this and the description states it is metal, as well as several of the reviews. Upon receiving it I have found out that it is not metal, nor is it anywhere close to a quality product. The only good this is that it has an almost exact paint match to the canon white. The tripod socket is too shallow, barely letting my Manfrotto QR plate fully tighten; the plastic construction is wobbly (makes for a great solid mount huh?), the interior lining marred my lens after ONE turn while on a tripod, and the latch screw is difficult to operate.I will be trying the opteka, and hoping that it is higher quality, if not I will give up on third party tripod rings.Buyer beware! You get less than you pay for here...

Too flexible to get sharp results. Junk !
This collar is an example of a "look alike" product that looks the part but offers 10% of the original product that it copied.I have several JJC lens hoods for Canon L lenses, and other than not having the fuzzy flocking in them, they are excellent. This product however is crap. It looks the part, and at least new out of the box it grips the lens tight, but that's as far as its virtues go.It is very weak and flexible and it breaks and pops as when a camera and lens are mounted. It is remarkably flexible and instills NO CONFIDENCE that your rig won't just break off.I was going to use it with a 70-200 f4 and a 200 f2.8 II to do multi row panorama shots to make huge 350 megapixel (yes, 350 mp. That is not an error) images with a Canon 50 mp 5Ds.It requires moving the camera and lens combo in precise increments to stitch the shots together. This mount is so flexible that I cannot even adjust it precisely enough in any king of breeze whatsoever with sharp results. It's junk.
